Metropolitan Museum
The collection of American decorative arts at the Metropolitan Museum extends in date from the late seventeenth to the early twentieth century and includes approximately 12,000 examples of furniture, silver, glass, pewter, ceramics, and textiles.

In 1928 a series of American period rooms was installed with the addition of a decorative arts wing. The gift of the M. and M. Karolik Collection of Eighteenth-Century American Arts in 1939 established the MFA as a major repository of colonial and federal furniture, paintings, silver, and other objects from urban centers.

Founded in 1966, the Bethel Historical Society provides visitors with a doorway to the past from its Regional History Center in the heart of historic Bethel Hill Village. The Society's Regional History Center consists of two adjoining properties on Broad Street — the 1821 O’Neil Robinson House and the 1813 Dr. Moses Mason House, both listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Dr. Moses Mason house is home to Rufus Porter Murals in an excellent and original condition. Thank you, Bethel Historical Society.

This site is part of the Smithsonian Institution. It is a great site for online art grazing, with its many collections to browse online.
The Museum has more than 3 million artifacts in its collection. Information and photos of selected objects is available in the online collections database. The database is a work-in-progress and new items will be added regularly. A separate database covers archival collections.
